In 2023, during an email exchange, we proposed to artist and editor Michalis Pichler a Portuguese translation of his text The Work of Art in the Age of Its Digital Reproducibility based on Walter Benjamin's text originally published in 1935. For this task, in parallel to using the original version of Benjamin's text, we proposed translating it into various artificial intelligence tools such as Chat GPT, Gemini, Google Bard, Bing, among others. This publication, divided into 15 chapters and an epilogue, presents the result of this experiment, including certain discrepancies and strangenesses that appeared during the translation process and also the version of the original text rewritten by the artist in 2018.
